“Gurzuf” came back from the accordion festival “Le Grand Soufflet” that had been held in the French town Rennes.
Everyone was impatient to see “Gurzuf’s” performance and every time the coming event hit the headlights, the band was called “the major and most unexpected break-through”. The main goal of the festival is to show all the spectrum of accordion sound in different music styles and other art forms. This determines stylistic diversity of the participants – modern music, jazz, world music, chanson, theatre, dancing. You can check the list of participants and listen to their parts on www.accordeon-festival.com. We would like to mention the most, in our opinion, chatchy ones: the Finnish duet Lepisto et Lehti – world music, accordion and double bass (simple, traditional and so fascinating) Tom Poisson – chanson Sanseverino Rene Lacaille – Madagascar accordionist, French band Fantazio – trance-improvisation MAM.
The festival geography is extensive indeed, it includes 30 towns spreading all over Brittany and around 70 stages. The main stage called Chapiteau was erected on an aged central Rennes square. This was where “Gurzuf” led off the whole accordion performance by playing a solo concert. The opening reinforced interest to the band, the guys were aired by Rennes radio “Canal B”, there appeared enthusiastic articles in local press and live performance broadcasts. “Gurzuf” had 5 concerts in the framework of the festival – in Rennes, Mordelles, Fougeres and Pace.
