The 13th Folk Music Festival “Spotkania ze Sztuka Ludowa” (“Folk Music Festival”) took place in the Polish town Cheremsha from 3 to 10 August.
The Festival is known both in the post-Soviet countries and in Europe. Every year bands from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania, etc come here. They represent traditional folk music as well as musical experiments connected with folk music. At the preceding festivals Belarus was represented by such bands as "Litvinsky Khmel"("Lithuanian Hop"), "Reha" ("Echo")and "Troitza" ("Trinity"). The present Festival program wasn't limited by band performance. It also included master-classes in folk singing, straw netting crafts, didzhiridu playing. Films about traditions, nature and residents of the Podlasy region were played. This year the Ukrainian ethno-chaos band "Dakhabrakha" with who we performed at Ethnoland Festival (2006) in Sorochany also appeared on stage.
